Reprogramming your Robot
April 30th, 2009 by Maggie
When I was in Social work, I used to teach Welfare Students in a couple of subjects. Oh My Stars! Can I tell a few stories!
One thing that was common in everyone of them and I see common in so many budding entrepreneurs is that they do not have their Robot Programmed correctly.
Robot? Yes, I can hear you now, What Robot?
The One between your ears!
Now if you were brought up in the era of “Lost In Space” your Robot is probably going “Warning Will Robinson, Warning, Warning” and flaying its arms around in alarm.
No matter, what your Robot is saying, to be successful you MUST reprogram your Robot. If you do not it will always come up with excuses as to why your not successful, why you shouldn’t do XYZ, why you should watch XYZ instead of recording it, whilst you finish X.
You know the story, yes you do, if you don’t then pack up now and go find yourself a boring 9-5 job, that hopefully will see you through until retirement.
I have 3 exercise books of excuses I collected from my Welfare Students that I am seriously thinking of making into a book!
Do me a favor and close your eyes turn the time machine back 3 years to New Years Eve – what was your New Years Resolution? Now come forward a Year, what was your New Years Resolution, now forward another year – same thing, what was your New Years Resolution? Did you succeed with any of them?
Look, I know you probably tried with all the “Will Power” you could muster, but the truth is that hardly anyone can alter habits or achieve goals through “Will Power” alone.
So let’s take “Will Power” and shoot him off into space, because he is useless, the conflict between what you are and what you aspire to be is inside your self image, consequently if “Will Power” is exerted with out a process of re-programming you will fail – yes, the snap back effect is so powerful you will fail. Within 48 hours, most people will have a violent snap back effect, making any Resolution, whether New Years, mid weeks, mid years etc it just becomes an absolute farce.
Good news though, you can change any habit in 21 days and cement a good habits in 21 days. BUT YOU MUST ONLY CHANGE 1 THING AT A TIME.
So, lets see, what can we change, oh I know, if you keep on making it to your comfy chair to rub the hair off the back of your head by watching those mindless TV Shows (Yes I do watch TV - 5 hours per week ONLY and one of my favorite shows is Boston Legal I love James Spader!) instead of reading a book about Online Marketing, The Niche you wish to Promote, The best ways to market online, you know the thing, take just 1 HOUR – yes just 1 HOUR every night before bed and read that book and do it for just 21 days, you will have reprogrammed that Robot between your ears to read every day, plus you will be a much smarter and more equipped person to build a successful business.
Just think, if you did that every 21 days for all the things you wanted to change (remember only 1 thing at a time) how much could you grow within 3 months, 6 months a year, 2 years?
Something to think about… …
Until Next time
Love and Light
