Reprogramming your Robot

April 30th, 2009 by Maggie

When I was in Social work, I used to teach Welfare Students in a couple of subjects.  Oh My Stars!  Can I tell a few stories!

One thing that was common in everyone of them and I see common in so many budding entrepreneurs is that they do not have their Robot Programmed correctly.

Robot?  Yes, I can hear you now, What Robot?

The One between your ears!

Now if you were brought up in the era of “Lost In Space” your Robot is probably going “Warning Will Robinson, Warning, Warning” and flaying its arms around in alarm.

No matter, what your Robot is saying, to be successful you MUST reprogram your Robot.  If you do not it will always come up with excuses as to why your not successful, why you shouldn’t do XYZ, why you should watch XYZ instead of recording it, whilst you finish X.

You know the story, yes you do, if you don’t then pack up now and go find yourself a boring 9-5 job, that hopefully will see you through until retirement.

I have 3 exercise books of excuses I collected from my Welfare Students that I am seriously thinking of making into a book!

Do me a favor and close your eyes turn the time machine back 3 years to New Years Eve – what was your New Years Resolution?  Now come forward a Year, what was your New Years Resolution, now forward another year – same thing, what was your New Years Resolution?  Did you succeed with any of them?

Look, I know you probably tried with all the “Will Power” you could muster, but the truth is that hardly anyone can alter habits or achieve goals through “Will Power” alone.

So let’s take “Will Power” and shoot him off into space, because he is useless, the conflict between what you are and what you aspire to be is inside your self image, consequently if “Will Power” is exerted with out a process of re-programming you will fail – yes, the snap back effect is so powerful you will fail.  Within 48 hours, most people will have a violent snap back effect, making any Resolution, whether New Years, mid weeks, mid years etc it just becomes an absolute farce.

Good news though, you can change any habit in 21 days and cement a good habits in 21 days.  BUT YOU MUST ONLY CHANGE 1 THING AT A TIME.

So, lets see, what can we change, oh I know, if you keep on making it to your comfy chair to rub the hair off the back of your head by watching those mindless TV Shows (Yes I do watch TV - 5 hours per week ONLY and one of my favorite shows is Boston Legal I love James Spader!) instead of reading a book about Online Marketing, The Niche you wish to Promote, The best ways to market online, you know the thing, take just 1 HOUR – yes just 1 HOUR every night before bed and read that book and do it for just 21 days, you will have reprogrammed that Robot between your ears to read every day, plus you will be a much smarter and more equipped person to build a successful business.

Just think, if you did that every 21 days for all the things you wanted to change (remember only 1 thing at a time) how much could you grow within 3 months, 6 months a year, 2 years?

Something to think about… …

Do You Believe In Luck?

April 26th, 2009 by Maggie

Today it was “Family Time” and I took out to lunch my elderly parents and on the way home dropped into a “Club” so Mum could have a glass of wine and Dad “Guiness” before taking them home.  A little outing they like.  Dad has had 2 strokes, but still going strong, Mum her knees are giving out a little, both 86.

We sat and started talking and Dad, turned and watched people putting their hard earned money in to the “Gaming Machines”.  “I don’t know” he said, “why so many people believe they can make their money through luck.  Like I drummed into you, your best friend is a $ in the pocket made in an ethical way”.

A very wise man my Dad!

After dropping them home, I started to think about what Dad said and about a newsletter I got some time ago from a gentleman named Mal Emery.  I respect Mal so much and have met the gentleman and attended a few of his seminars – this is what Mal wrote about Luck and how to get rich.

“Hit the Lottery.  The odds of winning last week’s Saturday Lotto were 1 in 8.145 million chance, that’s 8,145,000.00 to 1. Yes, A Plan but not much of one.

Marry Rich – Probably too late for that   (Is in my case haha)

Inherit Wealth.  Too bad we cannot pick our parents.

Steal Wealth

Build an “Ordinary” Business. Works, but it is kinda slow and torturous, isn’t it?

Get and Use a Mentor in your chosen niche.

‘The More you learn and the harder you work, the luckier you get’

Luck smiles on those who go out and make things happen”

Mal Also wrote: “Actually, everyone ‘models” all the time.  As children we model our parents to learn how to walk, how to speak, how and what to eat, how to treat others and how to perform everyday acts such as tying our shoelaces.  How do you think you learned to drive a car, you modeled someone.  What about your local butcher, he was an apprentice once, learning his trade.

The Trouble is Mal went on, is when it comes to modeling we often model whoever is handy or close to us, rather than looking for the best.  OR, we go and model (take advice) from certain people simply because that’s what everyone else does (our parents, friends etc).  This is often a BIG MISTAKE.

To get the results you want in any endeavor you must “model” what is already proven to be successful.  It’s the quickest and easiest way I know of to get rich”

I totally agree with Mal.

Are you a lazy business owner who doesn’t give a damn and lets the mood of the economy push them from pillar to post with the common held belief that you cannot do anything about the state of the economy or the state of your business or are you a business owner, who does care and wishes they could get more from their business?

If so ask yourself a question - Who are you modeling yourself on?

You know you can model yourself on someone even if you have not met.

Many highly successful people “Model” various Advertising, Marketing and Business Plans and by doing so enjoy thriving and booming businesses and a lifestyle so many business people, think is unobtainable.

Where do you sit with all this?

I would love to read your comments.

Toxic People

April 23rd, 2009 by Maggie

Have you ever found that when you make a suggestion to someone or discuss a “New Idea” with your friends and family they spend more time trying to figure out why it wouldn’t work than actually how they could adapt it to their particular situation?  Or try and tell you why it wouldn’t work for you (How would they know anyway what would work in your life?) Plus in conversation it is all about “What Wrong With The World” instead of “What’s Right With The World?

You energy levels get zapped big time when you are around them?

I learnt a long time ago, to listen to what people were talking about and look behind that to see what they were actually saying and how entrenched in their negative thinking they were and honestly I can say most people talk about gloom and doom and the most words that come out of their mouths are full of negativity.

Many people every morning wake up to the clock radio, where the first thing you hear is the news, then a lot turn on the TV for more doom and gloom and another dose of negativity, then for some the icing on the cake is the morning Newspaper.  By the time people are fed all this doom and gloom hype, there enthusiasm for life is gone and if you employ someone afflicted by the “Syndrome” their productivity is not the best and they tend to affect the rest of your staff.

But how does it affect YOU and YOUR DAY if you are a stay at home Internet Marketer, or an Offline Marketer and have a shop, salon or some other business?

Think about this for a while – really dig deep, how does this affect you? Are you a “Toxic Person”  - Yes YOU, what do you mainly think about and talk about,  has your home, office and place of business become a Toxic Waste Ground, with the ooze and slime of negativity?

Now you’re going to say, but Maggie what about the world economy.  Well what about it?  Do you honestly believe that in this day and age, you cannot build a good strong business if you were focused and almost one eyed about what it is you want out of life.

Stop being the flotsam and jetsam of life and start to be one eyed about how you want your life to be.

Last year I went to a 3-day seminar in Sydney run by a gentleman named Mal Emery, what a breath of fresh air!   He wouldn’t stand for any toxic people -  his advice (verbatim from my notes) to deal with them -

“If the Toxic dump is a friend, neighbor or relative stop associating with them, make yourself scarce and inaccessible.  Be rude with them if you must.  Being disliked and gossiped about by a toxic waste dump person is much better than being poisoned by one”

Why not try to stop listening to the Radio, TV news of a morning, Stop reading the newspapers (most news is greatly exaggerated anyway) and listen to a bit of Mozart or put on your favorite Upbeat CD.  Do this for 21 days, and watch the transformation in your life…

Life is good; I am penning this by hand first whilst sipping on a steaming hot cuppa, listening to the birds wake up, as I sit on my back balcony.

Look out World here I come!

Until next time
