I am a Nanna!

July 11th, 2009 by Maggie

Wow! I cannot believe how the time has flown – I am so sorry for not blogging in the last month on a regular basis. It will not happen again.

I have been so preoccupied and time poor, as I have been supporting my only daughter and her husband in the last couple of weeks of her pregnancy and also attended the birth of my first Grandchild.

After a long and difficult labor by my daughter - Brock Hunter Day was eventually born by caesarian section in order to keep mother and baby safe, it was the 3rd July. A gorgeous boy, 9 lb 8 ½ oz and 20 ¾ inches long, and I became a Nanna for the first time!

My love for my grandson was there before he was born, but when my eyes fell on his face I swear I heard the Angels singing – letting everyone know the joy I felt through my tears, Plus the Joy of my husband, who had joined me at that time.

I was just so proud of my daughter and son in law throughout and so privileged to be able to be with them on this very special day, the birth of their first child, to be able to support them both and massage my daughter and keep her focused on the most difficult and joyful task a woman can go through - the birthing process.

What can I say as a mother witnessing her “Baby” become a beautiful mother in her own right except it was a very emotional and also a very spiritual moment – the caring and sharing that knew no boundaries. This also extended to and with my wonderful son-in-law, I was so proud of him, his love for my daughter and his son was a wondrous thing to witness.

I know one thing, as my daughter became a mother, I in turn took a step and became the “Wise woman” in some circles called the “Crone”.

A step I embrace with all my heart, I have much to look forward to and would say to any woman who has a daughter about to become a mother – if asked, go and support her in the birthing process and be fully in the moment. This is how it should be it feels so right.

Oh If you wish to Share my Joy, I have started a photo album on Facebook, however, you will need to become a friend.
