Learn Cake Decorating ~ Simple Cake Decorating

October 24, 2010

I am absolutely thrilled when I get emails from my readers requesting I cover certain things, or asking if a certain topic is one I will blog about.

Some are and some aren’t as I will only blog about what I am skilled at. Now that covers a whole myriad of topics, for I am a lifetime student, and am forever learning new things. Plus I have Diploma’s and Degree’s in a few things.

It’s the Kitchen Gloves the Black Rubber Gloves that caused the problem!

October 12, 2010

Oh my stars – what a day I have had today, guys I just gotta tell you what happened.
The phone rang this morning and I immediately thought “Oh No – Damn I am right in the middle of this test bake, I don’t need to talk to anyone”
But with due diligence I picked up the phone, as I care for my elderly parents and it could have been one of them.
“Maggie Speaking” I said putting it on loud speaker
“I don’t believe it”, came the cry from the other end of the phone “I just don’t believe it”
“Don’t believe what Suzie” I said (it was my girlfriend Suzie)
“It’s my black rubber gloves – my kitchen gloves, you know the ones you bought me the fancy rubber gloves with the gingham decoration and bow from the wrist up”
“I should do since I bought them for you – so what’s with them?”
“Well they are ruined”
“Ruined?” I said
“Yes Ruined – I don’t believe what happened to them, my precious black rubber gloves – my gorgeous kitchen gloves”
At that point I honestly thought she was going to cry!
“Calm Down Suz – look I have you on speaker phone, you don’t mind if I measure and sift flour do you while I am talking to you, I am rather busy today”

September 4, 2010

As the late great John Denver used to sing –

I collect Cook Books and I am always rummaging around in second hand shops, garage sales, tip shops, op shops, car boot sales, you know that sort of thing to find very old treasures in the form of cookbooks, to add to my collection because I love to bake and cook and share with others vintage recipes, especially cake and frosting recipes.

Home Made Fruit Cake anyone?

August 12, 2010

Sorry for the delay everyone in posting a new blog post, only I injured my shoulder so bad, I have been unable to type or do anything. It is a little better now, however, not even an operation on it will fix it, so I am undergoing intensive Physio and Chiropractic on specialist oders, which will continue they think for around 6 months, and that will enable me to at least get my arm above my head. ARghhh!!
Anyways, whilst I was inactive I had a couple of visits from my girlfriends, with whom I had not been able to catch up with over the last few months, and my partner made one of my recipes for a fruit cake, which was a big hit, so I thought I would give it to you all to make.
I have dozens of different recipes for fruit cake, this one is so easy you just cannot mess it up.

The Versatile Diabetic Pumpkin Scone – Yummy!

June 12, 2010

One thing that my family love are scones especially my elderly parents, whom I help care for. My Dad bless him has aged onset diabetes, plus as many of you know my husband is also a diabetes sufferer.

Today I want to share with you my 100% healthy diabetic scones.

Now these scones are so delicious, that my friends ask that I make them so their kiddies can take them for school lunches, plus my son and daughter order 1 dozen each when they come to visit (they take away what they call Mum’s Care packages – consisting of homemade, bread, scones and muffins as these freeze so well!) and guess what – they are not even diabetic!
