Do You Believe In Luck?

April 26th, 2009 by Maggie

Today it was “Family Time” and I took out to lunch my elderly parents and on the way home dropped into a “Club” so Mum could have a glass of wine and Dad “Guiness” before taking them home.  A little outing they like.  Dad has had 2 strokes, but still going strong, Mum her knees are giving out a little, both 86.

We sat and started talking and Dad, turned and watched people putting their hard earned money in to the “Gaming Machines”.  “I don’t know” he said, “why so many people believe they can make their money through luck.  Like I drummed into you, your best friend is a $ in the pocket made in an ethical way”.

A very wise man my Dad!

After dropping them home, I started to think about what Dad said and about a newsletter I got some time ago from a gentleman named Mal Emery.  I respect Mal so much and have met the gentleman and attended a few of his seminars – this is what Mal wrote about Luck and how to get rich.

“Hit the Lottery.  The odds of winning last week’s Saturday Lotto were 1 in 8.145 million chance, that’s 8,145,000.00 to 1. Yes, A Plan but not much of one.

Marry Rich – Probably too late for that   (Is in my case haha)

Inherit Wealth.  Too bad we cannot pick our parents.

Steal Wealth

Build an “Ordinary” Business. Works, but it is kinda slow and torturous, isn’t it?

Get and Use a Mentor in your chosen niche.

‘The More you learn and the harder you work, the luckier you get’

Luck smiles on those who go out and make things happen”

Mal Also wrote: “Actually, everyone ‘models” all the time.  As children we model our parents to learn how to walk, how to speak, how and what to eat, how to treat others and how to perform everyday acts such as tying our shoelaces.  How do you think you learned to drive a car, you modeled someone.  What about your local butcher, he was an apprentice once, learning his trade.

The Trouble is Mal went on, is when it comes to modeling we often model whoever is handy or close to us, rather than looking for the best.  OR, we go and model (take advice) from certain people simply because that’s what everyone else does (our parents, friends etc).  This is often a BIG MISTAKE.

To get the results you want in any endeavor you must “model” what is already proven to be successful.  It’s the quickest and easiest way I know of to get rich”

I totally agree with Mal.

Are you a lazy business owner who doesn’t give a damn and lets the mood of the economy push them from pillar to post with the common held belief that you cannot do anything about the state of the economy or the state of your business or are you a business owner, who does care and wishes they could get more from their business?

If so ask yourself a question - Who are you modeling yourself on?

You know you can model yourself on someone even if you have not met.

Many highly successful people “Model” various Advertising, Marketing and Business Plans and by doing so enjoy thriving and booming businesses and a lifestyle so many business people, think is unobtainable.

Where do you sit with all this?

I would love to read your comments.

Until Next time

Love and Light
