The last 7 months have gone so fast but they have been gob-smacking! Seeing the world through a baby’s eyes is magical, everything to them is exciting and if you let yourself go you can gather that excitement. Just spending time around them is awe inspiring.

One thing that baby’s love and Brock adores is getting a massage! He has had a massage everyday from birth and gets one from Nanna every time I mind him. The benefits of massage are well known, not only for babies but for all of us especially if we are stressed.

It is a well known fact that stress is the causal factor of many ailments and if left unattended can lead to premature ageing, emotional imbalances and niggling body pains. Massage has shown to be a highly effective way of dealing with your stress, the more frequent the massage the more relaxed your become, giving you increased energy, sharper concentration, more restful sleep, improved circulation, more balanced moods, fabulous joint flexibility and an overall greater sense of well-being.

There are key areas that are benefited and aided by massage

The Circulatory system – this comprises heart, arteries, veins, blood and related pathways. Massage improves circulation and delivery of oxygen and nutrients to every cell in the body. Good circulation enables the body to flush toxins to prevent congestion in the tissue or the organs.

The Lymphatic System – this comprises lymph, capillaries, lymph ducts, lymph vessels and lymph nodes. The lymph network cleanses filters and removes waste from the body. It relies solely on muscular movement to do its work. Waste must move quickly to avoid tissue damage, water retention or cellulite build up. Regular exercise along with regular massage definitely optimises the body’s ability to prevent those horrid toxins building up. This is good news for the Skin and the immune system!

The Musculoskeletal System – of course this is the most obvious area that enjoys the benefits of massage as it consists of our muscles, skeleton, connective tissues and joints. Many of us have bodies that are out of alignment thus limiting the range of movement causing pain. Regular treatments will definitely improve posture, cramping and joint pain.

The Nervous System – It senses changes within the body, then interprets and responds to the changes through muscular and glandular reactions. If this system is not functioning well out body experiences a variety of reactions such as feelings of anxiety, physical exhaustion, increased heart rate, digestion problems, muscular tension, headaches, skin irritations, mental fatigue or depression. Massage is an excellent way to relax both the body and mind to reduce these symptoms and to improve your sense of well-being and inner peace.

Why not give your children a lovely massage or get one yourself on a regular basis, it is not a “Luxury” it is part of a good overall health plan, as is eating correctly and getting a good nights sleep and regular exercise.

I would love for you to share the first 6 months of Brock’s life, I put these photo’s together at Christmas time, when he was 6 months old, (As a Nanna I am sure you will allow me to brag!) brockie
