Gripped by Fear and Self Doubt?

by Maggie on April 8, 2010

One thing that came out of my post on Spirituality was a question regarding Fear and Self-doubt. A few of you emailed me asking about the subject of fear or self-doubt, and I hope this post will help you all.

Many often wonder and question whether you can be a spiritual person, become spiritual or even think along spiritual lines because of your overwhelming fear or self-doubt.

Many of us believe what we are constantly exposed to, and unfortunately, due to the world wide media being what it is, we see, hear and therefore believe the world as being a place of lack and limitation, heart wrenching unhappiness, nations at war, starvation, pain, struggle and illness. It isn’t long before many of us begin to give those ideas power and by looking at the number of people we see every day immersed in those conditions, we believe and feel it is nearly impossible to trust that the normal human experience can be one of abundance, joy, peace, fulfilment, health, and ease.

Since childhood many of us have been told that “nothing’s perfect.”

Nothing is worse than this type of programming, because we’re never going to realize our spiritual and human potential until we release our former ideas of what is possible. Life is a beautiful, perfect, glorious miracle.

On a spiritual level I believe that we choose our situations, our families, our painful experiences in order to evolve.

If we open our eyes and not take it all to heart, observe everything from despair to triumph, huge opportunities to make change will come to the light.

Despair challenges our perception of what can be.

Fear and self-doubt robs us of our capability to produce change on any level no matter how small.

If you look at life as one huge painting – it must have light, dark and various shades in between (Think of your favourite painting by one the old masters) you wouldn’t say that it is not perfect – well life is no different – life is perfect because it is giving us room to grow.

To look at it in another context - lets use the elements – bad weather makes us stronger, rain helps us grow, the cold steels us and makes us hardier, making us more receptive to spring when the sun shines more bringing warmth – where we can make things WE WANT grow. One thing however, is sure – with emotions like fear and self-doubt do nothing but keep us in the dark – we are going to grow despite ourselves and there is nothing we can do about it. There should be no fear of growth. We should be proud of surviving, overcoming, beating the odds, not living in fear of more to come, and especially proud of not dragging ourselves down

I think we are often fearful of believing we can have anything we want. But you know what – we can!

Think on this for a while – the Universe is bountiful and wants to give us all it has, this being so, why would be turn away such a gift.

Let this be your manta “I AM, therefore I have peace, balance, harmony and an abundance of all good things in my life”

Until next time
