Help My Toddler Is Constipated!

Firstly let me assure you that it is a well-known fact that it is estimated that about half of all toddlers will experience toddler constipation at one point or another.
How you can tell your Toddler is constipated?
Symptoms of toddler constipation may include infrequent bowel movements i.e. going 3-4 days between bowel movements, hard stools, straining during bowel movements, and some toddlers will try to stop a bowel movement from happening because it hurts so much.
If not corrected toddler constipation can actually becomes a vicious cycle: because the bowel movements hurts, the toddler tries to stop it happening, which makes the stools very hard, thus making them hurt more!
So what can you do to prevent this from happening?
Good news! It is very simple to alleviate toddler constipation all it means is a few lifestyle changes.
The first thing you need to do is to give your toddler high fiber foods such as fruits, vegetables, breakfast Cereals or toast that are high in fiber. You can even add a little fiber to their cereal if need be. Make sure your child has a good fluid intake. Give them a glass of water or FRESHLY MADE fruit juice during the morning or afternoon playtime. When I say freshly made I mean using a juicer and keeping the fiber in the juice.
One thing you need to know is that cheese can cause constipation in some toddlers so you might have to cut out the milk and cheese for a few days if your child is already constipated until the bowel movements become regular again.
Until your toddler is older sticking to a 10-minute potty regime after meals is a must. This time seems to be the best time for many toddlers to go.
NEVER Give your child an over the counter laxative – in fact never give your child any medication unless authorized by your Doctor.
